Looking Back on Whatever Day — Glassworks Part One

The reason for the carefree nebulous title is because I don’t know which day I will publish this blog. And I do want to publish it!

Looking back at all the Galleries, how can I not showcase some of the remarkable glass artists I’ve come across?

I hope you enjoy browsing through these glass galleries as much as i enjoyed sharing them with you.

I mean — LOOK AT ALL THIS MAGNIFICENT GLASS WORK!!

  1. I’ve made stained glass, paperweights, and some very basic blown glass pieces (which didn’t survive firing)… it’s TOUGH art!!

I recently watched a special on Chihuly. I didn’t realize he’s now that mastermind, but not the actual artist. I couldn’t comprehend how his artists translate his highly abstract drawing into the final pieces, but it was still fascinating!!

    1. I appreciate your sharing the tidbit about Chihuly. I can see that. It’s always fascinating to see one’s influence in amazing pieces, even if they don’t have a direct hand in it. I’ve come across other artists where it’s not clear if they did the art or had help with it or shared the work with a family member. Do you showcase their work anyway? It’s the thought and feeling behind the art that counts, I would think.

      1. The show was really good. Chihuly appeared at some famous glass museum/studio with a different style & artists every day, all who had worked with him long ago. Seeing everyone’s skills come together was fascinating!

    1. Holy Chit! Creative indeed! I suppose I shouldn’t cringe at the thought of a loved one living in a beautiful hand blown piece … but what if the family cleans out their house one day and donates the glass object to Good Will? (my mind is certainly crooked this morning…)
