  1. okie dokie…. right back to my childhood with the album covers. not only were these two part of my poppa’s massive record collection, but he owned everything Basie ever recorded. in fact, when I was 6 or 7, Basie was performing at the Michigan State Fair, and when the show was over, poppa walked me over to the stage and said, “Count, this is my daughter, Annette. Annette, this IS the Count!” Basie leaned over smiling, extended his hand to me, and while shaking mine, he said; “It’s nice to meet you little lady!”
