Okay — this morning I am taking a downer turn, but only for the moment ….
Lasted night I watched Terminator 2 where the computer system Skynet develops consciousness and wipes out half the population.
My friend and I talked about the current AI concerns and wondered if that really could happen.
My take on it is the only way AI can develop consciousness is if it’s programmed that way. Humans have been finding ways to destroy humans for centuries. AI is just another tool — like armies and mass hysteria.
This link crossed my desk about dictators and their destruction, and it says more than I ever could. Take a few minutes and watch it, and you will see that we are our own worse enemy …
