Try reading this as a poem, not singing it as a song (if you can!) Want to come along for the ride?

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?
tears of happiness

Always. Every time I hear that song.

Unable to do it. My favorite version of the song is the ukulele version by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. It brings me to tears every time I hear it.

It does to me most of the time, too. A pretty little senior in high school sang it last week in the high school play and my eyes were moist.

Ha! I went to my grandson’s high school play last week (he was on the construction crew) which was Wizard of Oz and I found myself singing with every song! I know!
