Sunday Evening Art Gallery — Famous Clowns

I hesitated showcasing the world of clowns, because some have frightened the world to the end and back. But there are a number of familiar names that once upon a time brought joy and happiness to thousands.

These are those joyous faces.

Diamond Jim Parker

  1. I’m not afraid of clowns but was never a fan either. While looking through your list, I expected to see Red Skelton, because that’s how I remember him from my childhood. I had to google him to find he only did some clown skits. His dad was a professional clown, but Red only painted clowns. đŸ™‚

So, even though I enjoyed your clowns, and I only knew three of them, I learned something new today thanks to your post!

            1. I will be honest — I was surprised I went with it, seeing my aversion to that sort of entertainment. But I used to work with a woman whose parents were both clowns in her youth, and she always had wonderful stories to tell. My mother-in-law actually had a collection of clown statues. So there are people who are not scarred by the likes of John Gacy and It. I mean — who doesn’t remember the gag of 13 clowns climbing out of a Volkswagen? Ha!
