My second piece of abstract art. This one I call Fall.
What I’ve been learning from artwork to artwork is that each one evokes different energy from me. The more I practice the better I become … which is a given for all of us. I feel I move forward every time I don’t accidentally touch the paper with a dark marker or blend and re-blend colors from pencils.
Every piece of art is different. Every piece is a free-handed effort to turn emotions from a particular word into a design on a piece of art paper, trying not to be too obtuse or obscure. All in all it’s been a learning experience. One I’m currently addicted to…
What’s in your bag of creativity this week?
I love making art in an art journal and I wish I did it more often. I just like to grab some magazine images I like and some random vintage pieces of paper and set them down together — it’s the one time I really feel free from mental chatter, and a nice respite from all the thinking that quilting and writing require from me. 🙂

It’s funny how one craft can fill your mind with chatter and equations and measurements and others are like snow on a distant mountain. I’ve been doing art in the morning when it’s been quiet and relaxing.. before the madness of the day sets in. Your craft sounds very fun.. something is like to try one day!

Oh… it is! And it’s too bad I’m an average photographer — the sparkle gel pens add another dimension to the weirdness!

I like it! It’s definitely Fall. I’ve always been drawn to abstract art.
This week? I’m taking a MasterClass – Walter Mosely Teaches Fiction and Storytelling. He wants me to write 1.000 words per day, so I am. 🙂

I am really impressed. And not in a smarty way. I have often thought about the motivation to write 1,000 words a day. If you are really into what you’re writing, easier peasier. If you’re stuck… good luck! I really hope I have one more round of story writing left in me…

So far, I find him to be motivating. He wants three hours a day, 1,000 words. And if you’re stuck on your story, write any words. Write about not being able to find the words. Just write. Making the habit of 3 hours/1,000 words works on your subconscious mind as well, and ideas will begin to bubble up. I’ll probably do a blog post and share some tidbits when I get a couple of these classes under my belt.
I suspect you have another round of story writing left in you. You are far too creative not to. 🙂
