Today, finally, is filled with rain. Something my grass and gardens definitely need.
It’s a day for inside chores — the usual (laundry) and the unusual (crafts).
I spent a good three hours doing another unusual task — something I think you all should do, too.
Saturday my Facebook account was hacked. Somehow the wonderful SOB got into my account and tagged all my friends with a picture of a car crash and a link to follow.
Needless to say I got a ton of responses, including “Did you get into an accident??”
I’ve seen hacking all around me. Every now and then one of my FB friends will say “my account was hacked.” Better them than me, I figured.
Until ~I~ got hacked. Not a smarty pants any more.
I have to admit straight up. I am lazy. One (or two) passwords worked well for almost 20 different accounts. Some important (banks), others fluffy (Reddit).
Three different friends (including my hubby) advised me to change my passwords PRONTO.
This time I listened.
It took me over 3 hours to go into all my accounts and change the passwords. The word “lazy” was taken out of my online vocabulary.
I know you think you’re safe with the passwords you’ve had for years. And you are. Probably. But just in case …
Update a few now and then. Make up some stupid password and write it down and tape it into the cover of your address book or monthly bills folder or on the last page of your calendar.
I’m lucky the extent of my hack was an ugly crashed car that looked nothing like mine.
There’d definitely be an ugly crashed face if it would have been my bank or social security account…
We have to be so very carefull with everything, they try to trick you all the time. Our Visa card was hacked last year by someone in England, we have been in England once and that was about 20 years ago !!! Luckily Visa paid all of the money back.

That was my bigger concern — bank accounts, charge accounts. I used to say “that’s not me” but now I’m not so careless with my future!

So sorry! I’m like you, lazy when it comes to that stuff, a good reminder to us all to change those passwords every now and then!

Oh dear. I guess it happens to all of us sooner or later.
