Unusual Library Buildings

Friedensreich Hundertwasser

Odd Shaped Houses

I think there are a few of the smallest ones I could live in and enjoy, but big buildings where lots of people live in flats, that would be difficult for me.

I agree. There’s only so much you want the outside world to see …..

I always close my curtains when I put the lights on. Some people don’t want curtains and in the evening you can always see what they are doing, how their house looks on the inside. We don’t live in the middle of nowhere but even then I think I would close all curtains in the evening. The thought of someone outside looking at me without me knowing, it scares me.

Believe me — that creeps me out too! We live in the country and I still close my blinds at night. Our living room window is on the second floor, so I know no one will easily look in, but still … no glass house for me!

Yes! Anyone can have a “regular” house and visit a “regular” museum — kudos to those who have the bravado to live in buildings like these!!

A creativity shed would be so fun!

I would LOVE to have a Creative Shed! I’m just afraid it would look like a Hoarder Shed with all the creative crap I’d store in it!

I “dated” an architect one weekend… I wish we had discussed architecture MORE! (his house was amazing)

Ha! Love that! I lived in Elmhurst, Illinois for almost 20 years and never knew Frank Lloyd Wright’s F. B. Henderson House was only about a mile away! If I could post a face palm picture in here I’d certainly be doing it now!

Where was the house in Elmhurst? I grew up there too. I only knew about the houses in Oak Park.

Internet says its at 301 South Kenilworth Ave. That was the fancy street past the library going east and west. I lived over on North Street, and my best friend lived on the north end. I used to walk Kenilworth for exercise now and then — I never knew it was a FLWright house. I just thought it was a cool house!

Love these, would like to know where they are located.

If you click on the link of the blog’s name, half the blogs have the name of the building and where it’s located. The general blogs like round houses and glass houses were more researched on the Internet and didn’t include info.

The second photo down in glass houses……is that the house from the movie “The Lakehouse” with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves?

Yes! I LOVED that house! When I did this gallery I purposely searched for that one. Reading up on it, I found out that they built that house for the movie, and tore it down after filming.
