Sunday Evening Art Gallery — Rostislaw Tsarenko

Rostislaw Tsarenko is an Ukrainian ink artist from Poltava who taught himself how to turn tiny dots into entire emotional worlds. The artist independently studied art and started with paints, pencils, felt-tip pens, and later settled on the dot work style to create his intricate art.Tsarenko works almost exclusively in ink, using dot work and stippling to slowly build up highly detailed images. He selects the desired liner thickness depending on the subtleties of the image he transfers. From afar, his drawings feel realistic. Step closer, and they start to slip into something more surreal.Like many artists, Rostislaw draws inspiration from music, movies, the aesthetics of details in his environment, as well as classical sculptures of ancient Rome, Greece, Italy and more, which you can often see portrayed in his works.

His mix of realism and symbolism is what makes his surreal ink art so powerful.
