Children born of fairy stock
Never need for shirt or frock,
Never want for food or fire,
Always get their heart’s desire:
Jingle pockets full of gold,
Marry when they’re seven years old.
Every fairy child may keep
Two strong ponies and ten sheep;
All have houses, each his own,
Built of brick or granite stone;
They live on cherries, they run wild–
I’d love to be a Fairy’s child.
~ Robert Graves
It is! Light and delightful and simple and fun!

It took me a bit to find out but yes, this is the same as wrote Goodbye To All That. He also wrote I Claudius, which I have read. What versatility.

Is this the same Robert Graves who wrote Goodbye to All That?

I want to be that fairy child, too … especially if I can live on cherries!
